my daughter is a burgeoning reader and we visit the library weekly to replenish her supply of books, often taking out 10 books at a time, including audio-enabled books and early reader chapter books. i listen to multiple audiobooks a month while my husband devours books in print.
the Beebe library (and NOBLE) not only supply us with a broad range of reading material, but also a place for community interaction, learning and enrichment opportunities, and family-friendly activities that we look forward to on a regular basis. this is an essential place/space/service for our family and our community; I don't know what we'd do without it and the all of the opportunities and services it provides.

Though I live in a different town now, I will always have such fond memories of the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library, which was a safe and welcoming place for me for my entire childhood. I spent so much time with Gray, a former librarian, as a kid, it wasn't even funny. The librarians would always make time for me, whether I was looking for books, wanted to know what was in the big sarcophagus in the children's section, access a study room, or just chat. I used to have girl scout meetings weekly in one of the rooms you can reserve. I attended many a summer reading event (including visits from the zoo!!). But the best memory I have of the library in my hometown is when I got to sleep over there. I won the summer reading raffle when I was 11 (surprising no one, because my voracious reading was unmatched) and got to bring several of my friends to an after-hours slumber party. We were accompanied by two librarians who let us have the run of the place, made us chocolate chip cookies, and set us up with a movie on the big projector screen. It was genuinely a magical experience that I will never forget, even now that it is half a lifetime away. Thank you to all the wonderful librarians at the Beebe, and thanks especially to Gray. <3

This library anchors my family in this town. It is a safe haven for my family to get lost in a random story or learn more about a topic of science, math, fabric arts, history, and anything and everything under the sun! I greatly enjoy walking into the building the past 13 years being greeted by first the walls lined with books, then the center tables adorned with books, and then the smiling faces of the librarians and other staff members welcoming us. This library is open rain or shine, all season long. This library acts like a guiding star to many of our questions in life. This library, and all other libraries, are indispensable and should never be considered for anything but improvements, never closure or destruction.
